Hi there Bike Wanaka downhillers
We have the opportunity of a skills day up at the Dirtpark with Chris Kovarik and Clare Buchan, both World Cup racers, they have taken some time out to come over from Australia and run 4 day DH camps at each round of the Nationals.
Kovarik Racing have contacted Bike Wanaka to offer a 1 day skills clinic in early Janruary to our local riders that would like to brush up their skills and improve their race craft.
If you're keen then get in…Continue

Hello Bike Wanaka
The final round of the Southern Series is coming to Wanaka in two weeks, this is the clubs biggest DH event of the year and we are looking for helpers.
Would you like to sit in a tent and stop bits of paper flying away whilst trying to answer stupid questions and collect money? Maybe you would like to be on an exposed mountainside for hours on end in the driving wind and rain/blistering heat with little thanks at all? Or perhaps driving a van up a dusty road…Continue

Yes, the biggest little bike racing series is back! Do you want bragging rights over your riding buddies for a whole fortnight? Are you "not into racing" but love to kick your mates arse down your favourite trail? Do you enjoy a cold refrshing fizzy beverage to aid your sports recovery rather than a squeezy tube of babyfood? Then look no further!
Big Wednesday does exactly what it says on the tin.... Pick a trail or loop in the forest every fortnight and battle it out to the…Continue

What an amazing biking weekend in Wanaka, yet again the weather here in paradise played along with the festivities. The rain threatened all day Saturday but only a few spots fell on the final race run and did nothing to dampen the spirits of the riders or spectators of the Wanakafest Urban Downhill.
Here's how the 88 riders ended up.......http://www.bigpines.co.nz

The much anticipated return of New Zealands original Urban Downhill Race in Wanaka is coming this Labour Weekend, Saturday 20th October. Practice runs start at 3pm, racing from 5.30pm and prize-giving at the finish line around 7.30pm then down to the Creek Bar for…Continue

What do you do when there are a couple of large trees causing safety issues and generally getting in the way?
Turn them into a sick new quarter pipe and a maintenance free trick booter for the jump park!
Huge thanks to the club for helping to fund the steel for the frames and all involved with the building process.

Its not just all go in the park at Lismore, RocknRolla is progressing really well down the hill with the last big corner dug in today and time to start benching in some nice table top jumps along the bottom run and that will be the digger work done.
Plenty of hand work to do then to get the rake through the bottom couple of straights. A little bit of the uphill single track return has been dug with a couple of tight switchback corners to keep it interesting.
Here's a look at…Continue

Hello Wanaka bikers,
I've had a report from the trail pixie's at Lismore Bike Park, they've been working hard on the new Rock'n'Rolla line and things are going really well. The machine bench is now approx half way down the hill with the rakes and shovels following close behind!
There must have been a rumour going around that there was going to be some testing last Saturday, as soon as the trail pixie's took down their magical danger tape down a whole bunch of woodland creatures…Continue

You may have seen alot of activity at Lismore Bike Park over the weekend, we had the go-ahead from the council to remove some trees that we have been working around for the last few years and on Friday afternoon Fulton Hogan and the Lismore Logging gang removed the offending timber.
Everything went smoothly and according to plan, the logs will be going to the Luggate sawmill and the timber will be used to build features at the park.
The jump lines in the middle of the park will…Continue

Great news on the fundraising front, all grants have now been approved and construction will start in May.
The Rock n Rolla trail will be a great addition to Lismore Bike Park, it will form a loop in the steeper face of trees on the town side of the park, giving a better option for riders heading across town towards sticky, commuting, or heading to the park for a session on the pump track and jumps.
Approx 1.2 kms long, a 'mini Deans Bank' in the heart of town should make for…Continue
