Rock and Rolla

Jamie and his crew have started the Rock and Rolla track at Lismore last week. Construction will continue over the next couple of months. Look forward to updates as work progresses.

King & Queen of Sticky Feedback

Thank you to everyone who turned up to race today. Despite the grim forecast a few days ago, thankfully it didn't reach us until we were all packed up! We hope you enjoyed the race and found it suitably challenging.

I have heard that some on the beginner's course found it too easy (and wanted to do another lap!) but I have yet to hear that from anyone who did the other courses!

We would like to hold the event again next year and therefore would love any feedback you can…

Lismore Latest

You may have seen alot of activity at Lismore Bike Park over the weekend, we had the go-ahead from the council to remove some trees that we have been working around for the last few years and on Friday afternoon Fulton Hogan and the Lismore Logging gang removed the offending timber.

Everything went smoothly and according to plan, the logs will be going to the Luggate sawmill and the timber will be used to build features at the park.

Why do we exist and need financial members?

 

  • To enable us to fund raise for the construction and maintenance of mountain bike tracks in the Upper Clutha region.
  • To foster an increased awareness of cycling and its health and general benefits in the local community.
  • To have a strong collective voice for our common identity as cyclists living, commuting and riding recreationally in the Wanaka region.
  • To liaise with and maintain the links we have with private landowners, local councils and the Crown regarding access for all forms of cycling.
  • To be able to lobby to the necessary authorities for an increase in the public areas available for cycling.
  • To provide a means for cyclists to obtain national racing licences (road & mtb).
  • To undertake projects that will have a positive outcome for cyclists in the Wanaka region and to be able to apply for funding for such projects from the appropriate authorities.
  • To foster a code of ethics for local cyclists and provide an easy method of distributing local cycling news.
  • To look after the interests of the next generation of cyclists by acting as a watchdog over local, national and international issues that involve cyclists.
  • To provide a point of contact for cyclists new to the Wanaka area.
